Institutional development and political articulation:
 
Over the last few years the participation of IPÊTERRAS in networks of a political character has intensified. The NGO has participated, since 2004, in ASA (Semi-arid Articulation) and has been designated, since 2005, an organisation of reference in the combat against desertification in Bahia.

Since 2005 IPÊTERRAS has become affiliated to ABONG (the Brazilian Association of NGOs) which signifies for the NGO a bigger political representation and the possibility of benefiting from ABONG's Institutional Development Programme (training seminars, publications, etc).

It was during its last Planning and Evaluation seminar that IPÊTERRAS created a new objective, with the aim of stimulating the institutional / organisational growth of the entity: fundraising, the use of new planning, monitoring and evaluation tools, capacity building of staff, etc…

From June 2006 onwards, IPÊTERRAS will host a Swiss volunteer, Jean-David Rochat, for two years. This volunteer, supported by the Swiss NGO E-CHANGER, will be involved with the organisational development of the Institute. This new International partnership is viewed veryly positive.
 

IPÊTERRAS has worked alongside the Irecê NGO GARRA (Support, Rural and Environmental Resistance Group), the STTR (Rural Workers Union) of Barro Alto and the Culturart Foundation for many years.
